Hello friend, welcome to part two of the series: “Resorts 360: Success & Self Image”.
Today I am going to pickup where I left off in the last issue, but first a quick recap…
Last time I laid out for you the first four principles for improving your self-image and enhancing your self-esteem. They were:
1. Stop thinking and feeling as if you are a failure, because you are not. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and you possess all the power inside you that you will ever need to accomplish great things with your life.
2. Don’t be so critical of yourself. Concentrate on the areas of your life that are beautiful, and use your weaknesses as motivation to constantly and consistently improve yourself in life.
3. Don’t spend your time with people who will only bring you down. Try to lift their spirits if you can, but if you can’t get out before they pull you down with them.
4. Remember that failure is not a point of defeat. You must recognize that ‘failure’ is nothing more than a lesson learned and an opportunity to try again with a fresh approach and a little more wisdom.
Okay so there is a quick recap of the first four principles from the last issue, now lets move on with part two…
Principle Number Five: Remember to take all things in progression…one thing at a time.
Rome wasn’t built in a day… Presidents don’t become world leaders overnight… there is a progression to everything in life. You can’t always expect magical to happen with the snap of your fingers. Anything worth pursuing in life more often then not takes time…there is almost always a progressive process required in order to realize any achievement or accomplishment in life. This can be one of the hardest things to learn in life, but it is important to understand and remember if you want to be successful.
Principle Number Six: Inner Stability, Courage, Character and Success are the products of self-improvement.
Let’s face it, the world today can be a disheartening and destructive force if we allow ourselves to be moved by what we see, hear and feel within our daily environment. You must keep yourself encouraged by saturating your life with a steady diet of positive, encouraging and motivating influences, whether that be books you read, audio files that you listen to, or mentors that you learn from and surround yourself with. It is all important that you keep yourself filled up on uplifting and enlightening knowledge and information in order to combat the onslaught of negativity that the world will try and dump upon you everyday.
Principle Number Seven: Set Meaningful and Achievable Goals in your Life.
Make sure that the goals you set for yourself are big enough to keep you motivated but still within your power to accomplish on a timely basis. If all your goals are too lofty to begin with, then you are likely to get burnt out in trying to pursue them before you ever have the opportunity to actually achieve them. This is not to say that you should not set big and lofty goals for your life, it is important to dream big and set goals that some might consider impossible. But you should break those big goals down into several smaller, and more achievable goals along the way. It is much easier to stay motivated and stay on track when you are working towards smaller more easily achievable goals that you can accomplish in less time. And when you do accomplish one of these goals, reward yourself for the accomplishment. Treat yourself to something nice… a vacation, or a nice dinner, or a new outfit, or music CD… something to mark the occasion and serve as a reward for a job well done.
Principle Number Eight: Little things mean a lot!
Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we do like a pat on the back, saying “hi” or “hello”… greeting someone “good day” … or telling Mr. Smith something like “hey, I love your tie” … are simple things that mean so much to other people. When we’re being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, we also become beautiful to them. Never underestimate the power of a compliment a good deed invested in someone else’s life. The age old “golden rule” is still every bit as powerful today as it ever was… “do unto others as you would have them do unto you!”
Principle Number Nine: Even if you are at a place in your life where you are willing to pursue change and self improvement, and are working to make a positive difference in your life, do not assume that everyone else is going to be a supportive and enthusiastic as you are.
The world is a diverse community of people. Ideas, hopes, dreams, values and character traits vary wildly from one citizen to the next, and rarely do two peoples life purpose line up on the same focus at the same time. Sometimes even if you thin that you and your spouse or best mate, are one soul in two separate bodies, people can always surprise you and go a different direction, and/or not be very supportive of your desire to move forward in life. If and when this happens, do not be swayed by those who are at odds with your goals and desires for self-improvement. You are on a new mission now to improve who you are as a person, and to move closer toward the success that you desire in life, and no one can take that from you unless you give it to them. Do not let naysayers steal your enthusiasm for self improvement and success in life. They will come around once you have proven yourself.
We should always remember that there’s no such thing as ‘over night success’. Its always a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have now, realizing that those are just one of the things you once wished for. A very nice quote says that, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” We are all here to learn our lessons. Our parents, school teachers, friends, colleagues, officemates, neighbors… they are our teachers. When we open our doors for self-improvement, we increase our chances to head down the road of success.
Once again I would like to close with this simple call to action…
I found that my self-image and my self-esteem improved dramatically as soon as I learned how to market myself and my business for success, I started loving life more, pursuing my dreams with a greater passion, and living a lifestyle that actually made me happy and fulfilled.
I will teach you how to do the same if you are interested.
When I started my own business I did not want to follow the path that everyone else had followed before me. The path that led to even more bondage of being tied to the phone 15 hours a day… chasing down leads and prospects… stressing about looming deadlines and crushing workloads that so often accompany running your own business…
I wanted FREEDOM!
It is the desire for greater freedom that drives all of us all to leave the corporate workforce and strike out on our own business path to begin with right? I know that was my primary goal for me in getting started.
Unfortunately most people do not plan the future very well when they first go into business for themselves, and their ‘home based business’ that was supposed to bring them freedom actually turns into a crushing burden that enslaves them even more than their day job ever did.
That is why I chose a different path when creating my business. I developed a system for running my business (called Resorts 360) in a manner that allows me to do only the things I love to do, like marketing, writing , and “product testing” – (read as traveling to exotic vacation destinations all over the world and lavish in the lifestyle of leisure and luxury
